Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) will be holding mini-contests (called the Minerva Challenge) during the semester on topics related to learning and academic skills. Look out for information on the mini-contests broadcasts via the electronic noticeboards around the campus and also on this page. There are attractive prizes to be won!

Read, Evaluate and Write

Challenge: This challenge requires you to read a short article and to formulate an opinion (in a paragraph of not more than 100 words) based on the article you read. Tell us to what extent do you agree with the educational philosophy of the Minerva University.

Contest Period: 7 March 2018 10am – 21 March 2018 5pm

Prizes: $40 Popular Bookstore voucher

Eligibility to Join Contest: All SUSS students

Criteria to win:

The first 15 submissions that contain the following and receive a Band 7 and above rating based on the IELTS Writing Band Descriptor will win the prize:

  • Topic Sentence
  • Supporting idea/s
  • Development/Evidence of support ideas
  • Conclusion
  • Clarity and coherence

Appendix 2

Submission Guidelines:

  • Save your write-up and the citation in a Word document.
  • Name the file in the following format: PI Number_Citation Style (Example: Y1234567_APA)
  • Submit your entry below.

Announcement of results: Winners will be notified by email.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Each participant may submit one entry.
  2. All personal data submitted may be used for communication purposes only.
  3. TLC reserves the right to use submissions for marketing and publicity purposes. By entering the contest you agree to grant TLC the copyright to your submission.
  4. Winners will be notified via the student's SUSS email account and all winners must produce their Student Card and/or other personal details (on request) as proof of identity to claim their prizes.
  5. Prizes are non-exchangeable for cash or other items.
  6. Prizes not collected during the stipulated period will be forfeited.
  7. TLC reserves the right to replace prizes with items of similar value should any unforeseen circumstances arise.
  8. TLC’s decision regarding all contest matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding results and the awarding of the prize.
  9. We will not accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury, claims or disappointment suffered as a result in the use of the prizes.
  10. Participants entering into this contest shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
  11. TLC reserves the right to change the terms and conditions without prior notice.
